Football Tips for New Years Day
The last round of fixtures for the Christmas period and there are no real stand out fixtures. In the last round of games the only real upsets were Southampton drawing with Stoke and Wigan thrashing Villa.
The first game of 2013 sees the Baggies take on Fulham. West Brom had there chances to snatch the draw at Utd but couldn’t find the net. Fulham are on a poor run of form so I can see West Brom winning.
West Brom 2 Fulham 1
Possibly the biggest fixture of the new year period. City responded to there poor game at Sunderland by winning against Norwich. Stoke were lucky to win against Southampton last game out despite arguably Jerome goal of the season contender. With City at home its hard look past them.
Man City 2 Stoke 1
Villa are in all sorts of trouble now and they need to get in some experienced heads to settle the ship there as they are conceding a lot of goals. Contrast that to Swansea and they are continuing to play really attractive football and are scoring goals.
Swansea 3 Aston Villa 0
Reading got a much needed win against West Ham last time out which will give them a lot of confidence coming into the Spurs game. Spurs are on a good run of form which is unfortunate for Reading as I can only see on winner.
Tottenham 3 Reading 1
This is a must win game for West Ham as if Norwich win they will pull away from the relegation zone and West Ham will be sucked right into it. Norwich where unlucky not to snatch a draw against City last time out and will gain confidence from this. West Ham at home are always dangerous so I fancy West Ham to sneak it
West Ham 2 Norwich 1
Last year Wigan kick-started their season against Utd with there first ever league win against them. This result also was also the start of Utds downfall in there league title assault. I don’t expect Utd to make the same mistake again and I also fancy a Van Persie hat trick to boot.
Wigan 0 Man Utd 4
The evening kickoff sees two sides who would be pleased with efforts last time out. Southampton grabbing a well earned point at Stoke and Arsenal smashing Newcastle. Walcott is on fire at the moment and playing against his former club I expect him to make an impact.
Southampton 1 Arsenal 3
WED 2 JAN 2013 – PREMIER LEAGUE
Chelsea won against Everton last time out and huge thanks to Frank Lampard. I fancied QPR to beat Liverpool last time out and they where shocking and where lucky to only get beat 3 – 0. Against Chelsea they could get the Villa treatment and go home with a real hammering. This is my banker of the week.
Chelsea 5 QPR 0
Luis Suarez continued his good form and grabbed two goals last time out. Sunderland are always difficult to break down and beat. Adding into this Liverpools current crisis in to the regards the bug going through there squad I cant separate the two sides.
Liverpool 1 Sunderland 1
Everton are still chasing a top 4 finish so will be all out for a win to continue the chase. Newcastle are in awful run of form and if results go against them they could end up in the bottom two. With the uncertain future of Ba I feel Everton will have enough to win against Newcastle.
Newcastle 2 Everton 1
